Division of General and Paediatric Radiology

The clinical department of General Radiology and Pediatric Radiology at the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy offers a wide spectrum of diagnostic examinations with a team of specialized radiologists.

Personalized care for our patients is our highest priority, in order to deliver the highest quality of care and guarantee our future development.  We work closely with a team of specialists in all disciplines of medicine at weekly tumour boards and conferences to make treatment decisions tailored to the individual patient.

Our facility is equipped with the state-of-the-art machines, such as CT (including dual energy CT which has photon-counting capability), MRI scanners (both 1.5 Tesla and 3 Tesla, conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and tomosynthesis.

Regarding research, our focus is to improve our diagnostic ability through technical developments, as well as through the use of molecular, functional and multiparametric quantitative techniques. We are one of the few centers in Austria to offer our oncology patients PET-MRI (a hybrid of positron emission tomography and MRI), as well as PET-CT.
As part of Austria’s largest breast center, our outpatient breast clinic offers a spectrum of diagnostic exams and biopsy using the latest technology to make a quick, accurate diagnosis. Another area of expertise is our pediatric division which is equipped to care for newborns, infants, children and adolescents. In the trauma setting, we work right alongside our colleagues in the shock room, as well as the ambulatory acute care area.

In our departments patients are at the center of our efforts.  We try to make the patient experience as pleasant and stress-free as possible. Our scientific ambition is to generate new diagnostic possibilities and to continually improve the array of tools available for diagnosis.
