We have had the honor of welcoming Prof. Wim van Zwam, a globally recognized expert in the field of neurointerventional radiology and stroke management, to our department. Prof. van Zwam delivered two lunch lectures on the latest advancements in the stroke diagnosis and treatment on Thursday February 20th and Friday February 21st 2025.
Prof. Dr. Wim H van Zwam is a Full Professor of Radiology at the Maastricht University Medical Center, with a PhD in Radiology and an MSc in Neurointerventional Surgery. He published more than 200 peer reviewed papers, mainly on ischemic stroke. Prof. van Zwam was PI of the MACCA study on contrast enhanced MRA for cerebral aneurysms, co-PI of the MRCLEAN and MRCLEAN Late trial. He chairs the DSMB of Philips’ WETRUST study and of the InExtremis trials (LASTE and MOSTE) and is an active member of numerous national and international guideline committees.
