As part of his presidency, Prof. Kasprian is committed to promoting "Young Neuroradiology" and raising awareness of the broad range of services offered by Austrian neuroradiology, a discipline that has previously been underrecognized.

Successful Publication in European Radiology

The research study “Intrauterine blood transfusion causes dose- and time-dependent signal alterations in the liver and the spleen on fetal magnetic resonance imaging” (EURA-D-24-02312R2) by Dr. Schmidbauer has been accepted for publication in the journal European Radiology.

 

 

MAGNIMS Meeting in Prague

The MAGNIMS Meeting took place from October 17 to 18, 2024, in Prague. Dr. Haider presented a talk titled “MOGAD Follow-up: Why We Need Guidelines - The Neuroradiological Perspective,” where he emphasized the importance of unified guidelines for the follow-up of MOGAD patients from a neuroradiological perspective.

 

 

Success at the ISUOG Congress in Budapest!

The team of fetal neuroradiology at the Department of Neuro and Musculoskeletal Radiology wins TWO "Best Oral Presentation Awards" in the categories of Fetal Neuroimaging, awarded to Amit Haboosheh, and Fetal Imaging in Syndromes, awarded to Hui Shi, at the internationally renowned ISUOG Congress in Budapest.

 

 

Grant Received for ME/CFS Research Project

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Lukas Haider and his team have received a grant of €96,550.00 for their project “Investigating Cerebral Oxygen Metabolism Dysfunction as a Pathomechanism of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.”

The project aims to investigate hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a therapeutic approach to alleviate hypoxia symptoms in ME/CFS patients. We look forward to the results and their potential impact on the treatment of ME/CFS.

Prof. Majda Thurnher is the co-editor of the European Teaching Book "Clinical Neuroradiology." In this role, she brings her extensive expertise to the education and knowledge in neuroradiology.

Prof. Gregor Kasprian has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the renowned journal "Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology" (Impact Factor 7.3) and has taken on the leadership of the Special Interest Group for Fetal MRI Imaging within International Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG). Mini-Brains ("Organoids") and their Radiological Correlate:
The research group for fetal neuroradiology at the Department of Neuroradiology and Musculoskeletal Radiology, in collaboration with the Institute of Molecular Biology, has investigated the molecular, cellular, and prenatal radiological characteristics of one of the most common genetic disorders affecting brain development.

Their work was published in the journal "Cell Stem Cell" (IF 19.8).

SOFT TISSUE TUMOR IMAGING IN ADULTS: GUIDELINES FROM THE ESSR
These updated European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) soft
tissue tumor imaging guidelines aim to provide support in
decision-making and help with avoiding common pitfalls, by providing
general and entity-specific algorithms, techniques, and reporting
recommendations for whole-body staging in sarcoma and non-malignant soft

Ultrasound Congress 2024 in Opatija, Croatia

The Ultrasound Congress 2024 will be held in Opatija, Croatia, from October 10 to 12, 2024.

Dr. Jengojan will present three significant contributions:

Dr. Suren Jengojan has received a grant from the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) to support his scientific activities. The objective of this study, titled “Ultrasound-guided Thread-Release of the Arcade of Frohse: A Cadaveric Study,” was to develop a minimally-invasive ultrasound-guided thread-release technique for decompressing the posterior interosseous nerve by transecting the Arcade of Frohse in anatomical specimens and evaluate the procedure for effectiveness and safety.

 

Dr. Hannes Platzgummer is giving a keynote lecture at the 41st Congress of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA) in Prague. The presentation will take place on September 5th in the session "Nerve Injury after Regional Anaesthesia, Trauma, or Surgery - What to Do?" and is titled "Which Imaging Is Appropriate at Which Time?".
